Swimming & Diving Receives Three All-Conference Awards

DALLAS, Texas – (March 3, 2020) – The Florida Atlantic University women’s swimming & diving team tallied three All-Conference USA awards, as announced by the league on Tuesday. This is following the Owls’ third-place finish at the 2020 C-USA Swimming & Diving Championships, which was their best placing in FAU’s days of belonging to C-USA.

Redshirt junior Malvina Catalano earned All-Conference Second Team honors in the 1-meter. Catalano logged a second-place finish in the event to win the silver medal and broke the school record after scoring 306.50. The Rome, Italy native had a memorable season on the boards, winning C-USA Diver of the Week on three different occasions.

Senior Spence Atkins capped off her final conference championship on a high-note, earning a spot on the All-Conference Third Team. Atkins captured the bronze medal in the 500 free with a season-best time of 4:51.46, as well as a third-place podium finish in the 1650 free (16:45.86). After three years with the Owls, Atkins tallied two gold and three bronze medals at C-USA Championships.

The 200 medley relay team of Abby Marshall, Fatimah Westbrook, Hailee Trotter and Mackenzie Brown tallied All-Conference Third Team recognition. The team swam a 1:41.82 to record the bronze medal in the race.
