UAB Begins Conference USA Bonus Play at FAU on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM – UAB enters the second phase of its conference slate on Saturday with C-USA Bonus Play. The Blazers (16-11, 7-7 C-USA) will head to Boca Raton, Fla. for the second time this season to play Florida Atlantic on Saturday evening. Tipoff is 6 p.m. (CT). The game will be streamed on C-USA.TV.

UAB AND FAU    
The team began the series when FAU came to Bartow Arena for a nonconference game on Dec. 22, 2008. The teams would not meet again until the Owls joined Conference USA during the 2013-14 season. The Blazers have won eight straight games against the Owls dating back to Feb. 6, 2016 including a thrilling 68-65 triumph on Jan. 18.

ABOUT FAU    
FAU (14-13, 6-8 C-USA) has dropped four straight games dating back to Feb. 5. The Owls are coming off an 81-68 road loss to LA Tech. FAU is 12-3 at home falling to St. Bonaventure, FIU and UAB. Cornelius Taylor leads the Owls with 12.1 ppg.

Jalen Benjamin made a crucial steal with 2.4 seconds remaining in regulation and subsequently made a pair of foul shots in UAB’s 68-65 victory at Florida Atlantic on Jan. 18, 2020. The Blazers got 17 points from Tavin Lovan and 14 from both Kassim Nicholson and Will Butler.
