Miami Lakes, FL – The annual Orange Bowl Basketball Classic doubleheader, traditionally played in late December, will not be held in 2020, but will return in 2021 it was announced today. Uncertainty surrounding large indoor gatherings due to the COVID-19 crisis led to the decision to not play the 2020 Orange Bowl Basketball Classic. “The safety of the student-athletes, patrons, staff and arena personnel is most important, and while we are disappointed that the event will not take place this year, we are looking forward to the 27th Orange Bowl Basketball Classic in 2021,” said Orange Bowl Committee President and Chair Jeff E. Rubin. The 2021 Basketball Classic will again feature the University of Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles as the hosts for the doubleheader games and will be held at its longtime home — the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Broward County. The Orange Bowl Committee will be reaching out to all patrons who have secured tickets to this year’s event. Those holding tickets may also contact the Orange Bowl Ticket Office at (305) 341-4702 or via email at tickets@orangebowl.org. |
