Dear Friend of the Orange Bowl Thank you for your tremendous support over the course of this truly unprecedented year, during which our Orange Bowl Committee was extremely fortunate to successfully host one of South Florida’s great annual traditions, the 87th Capital One Orange Bowl featuring North Carolina and Texas A&M. We are incredibly proud of all that Orange Bowl accomplished especially given the immense challenges presented by the global pandemic, particularly in supporting the South Florida community in the areas that needed it most. Linked below you will find our Orange Bowl 2020-21 Annual Report to the Community, which highlights these key efforts over the past year. Orange Bowl Cares, the Orange Bowl’s community outreach platform, centers around four key pillars — youth sports, education, community engagement and legacy programs. In this unusual year, efforts were reimagined and adapted to remain as impactful as ever in a time of great need. Highlights from this past year include: In partnership with Feeding South Florida, Farm Share, Inc. and the 2021 CFPNCG Host Committee, Orange Bowl hosted nine drive-through food distributions throughout the summer and fall at all five Orange Bowl Legacy Parks, as well as additional locations throughout the tri-county area. The inaugural Orange Bowl Florida Girls High School Basketball Showcase presented by Baptist Health tipped off this past April. Combined with the fifth annual Orange Bowl Florida High School Football Showcase presented by Tire Kingdom that took place in February, qualified student-athlete participants are on track to earn more than $1 million in scholarships and financial aid from NCAA Division II, III, NAIA schools and junior colleges. Orange Bowl and its partners have pledged funding for two additional legacy park projects to be completed in the next several years, bringing the total to seven parks and $21.5 million invested in these cornerstone community projects. In addition to this past year’s outreach efforts, the Orange Bowl hosted a creative slate of reimagined year-round events in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the virtual AvMed Orange Bowl Coaches Luncheon and virtual Orange Bowl Food and Wine Celebration presented by Florida Blue. World-class international junior events were also hosted once again in tennis, golf and sailing. On top of all that Orange Bowl does in a typical year (and in this past most unusual year), it also led the hosting effort for the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship, featuring Alabama and Ohio State, that was successfully staged at Hard Rock Stadium on January 11, 2021, as well as all of the Host Committee and CFP events and activities leading up to the game. Bowl games provide tangible and impactful benefits to their communities, and we are extremely proud of the economic impact and community outreach the Orange Bowl continues to provide year-round. We are turning now with great hope and anticipation to the 2021 college football season as we prepare to host the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl on December 31 at Hard Rock Stadium. We are grateful for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you there! |
