| 4/18/2025 | No. 27 Women’s Tennis | Box Score MEMPHIS, TENN. – The No. 27 Florida Atlantic women’s tennis team defeated UTSA 4-0 on Friday morning to advance to Saturday’s American Athletic Conference semifinal match. With the win, not only does the #1 seed Owls advance, but they also move to 16-0 on the season and remain the only undefeated team in the nation. FAU faced UTSA for the first time in program history, despite being members of the same conference since 2013, and quickly secured the doubles point with a court one victory by FAU’s Malwina Rowinska and Lara Smejkal. The duo moves to 14-1 on the year, playing on the top court. Court two was nearly complete before court three’s Panna Bartha and Lexi Silna clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory. Bartha and Silna improve to 14-2 overall.Up 1-0, singles play began with FAU sophomore Lara Smejkal putting the Owls up 2-0 over UTSA with a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 court three win. Panna Bartha, the reigning AAC Player of the Week and 2024 AAC Freshman of the Year, followed with a 6-4, 6-1 top-court win. With four matches in play, the revolving door of heroes was up for grabs. Senior Millie-Mae Matthews seized the moment with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court six giving the Owls a 4-0 win over UTSA.FAU will remain in Memphis and will play the #4 Tulsa in Saturday’s semifinal match which is scheduled for 3 p.m. EDT. FAU captured the only meeting between the two teams back on April 5, 2025, by a 4-0 score. That match was also played at a neutral site.
