Women’s Basketball – Sharks earn No. 3 seed in NCAA South Region Tournament

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – After an NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance in the 2023-24 campaign, the Nova Southeastern Women’s Basketball team looks to make another deep postseason push. The Sharks earned the third seed in the NCAA South Region Tournament on Sunday evening, where they will take on Gulf South Conference member and number six-seeded Alabama Huntsville.

Nova Southeastern enters the NCAA Tournament with a 25-6, 16-4 SSC record and is coming off a heartbreaking loss in the Sunshine State Conference Championship against the Embry-Riddle Eagles. The Sharks are led by their complete team defense and All-SSC selections Aubrey Stupp (First Team), and Payton Graber (Third Team, Defensive Team).

Embry-Riddle and Tampa were the other SSC programs to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, as the Eagles collected the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 seeded West Florida. The Spartans were tabbed as the fourth seed and will take on number five-seeded Lee.

No. 1 seed Union (TN) and No. 8 seed Miles round out the remainder of the NCAA South Region.

The winner of NSU and Alabama-Huntsville will advance to play the winner of Embry-Riddle and West Florida in what could potentially be a SSC championship rematch.
