Week One Observations Of Lions Training Camp, and News

By: Jeremy T. Ballreich

Well, the Detroit Lions had their week one of training camp. Which is basically an extension of OTAs due to no pads are to be worn. Vanilla offense and defense, just to get the players into some shape before they don their pads and get to the real off season workouts. At the same time this offseason. Lions did a little in house front office work, as well.

Extensions:

Jared Goff had a four year, 212 million dollar deal with 66 percent of it guaranteed.

Amon-Ra St. Brown had a four year 120 million dollar deal. With 75 percent guaranteed.

Penei Sewell also had his extension with a four year 112 million dollar contract. A little over 33 percent guaranteed.

Taylor Decker signed his extension today with Pads going on for the first time at camp. A three year 60 million dollar deal. The guarantees are not disclosed yet.

But week One ended with a few Standouts and a few questions going into the meat of training camp. Which the coaching staff is sure to find out over the next 4 weeks.

1) Aidan Hutchison – had a handful of snaps the first week. Including getting past Penei Sewell twice.

2) Jameson Williams – Being praised by coaches and players alike as our most improved player so far!

3) Jack Campbell – Has taken on a more vocal leadership role and had the responsibility of calling plays to the defense all week. Could be the Mike Linebacker of the future.

4) Brodric Martin – considered a project, but has returned with body transformation and taking a bulk of the 1st team snaps this past week. Mostly due to DJ Reader still rehabbing from injury.

5) Emmanuel Mosely Jr. – Been playing very well and splitting time with Amik Robertson (who was added this offseason.)

6) Daurice Fountain – Been impressing the staff with his contested catch ability. Might get into the back end of the WR room if this continues.

Looking forward to providing a weekly update the rest of camp.
