BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women’s basketball head coach LeAnn Freeland has announced the addition of transfer point guard Ineivi Plata from Saint Francis on Tuesday.

Plata, a native of White Plains, New York, joins the Owls as a sophomore after playing her freshman season at Saint Francis.

“Ineivi is a tough, skilled point guard who is great in transition,” said Coach Freeland. “She’s a relentless on-ball defender and led her team in defensive rebounds as a freshman. Due to her determined spirit, high IQ, and competitive drive, she’s a great fit for our system. Our staff is excited to announce Ineivi is an Owl.”

During her freshman season, Plata earned Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team honors after leading the Red Flash in assists (82), ranking eighth in the NEC, steals (42), tying for sixth in the league, and defensive rebounds (85), averaging 2.8 defensive boards per contest. Plata also recorded 5.6 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game. Offensively, Plata posted five games in double figures, including a career-high 18 points on the road at Mercyhurst. She also dished out a career-best nine assists against Duquesne and posted 14 games with three or more assists. Defensively, the freshman had nine games with at least five rebounds, including a season-best seven-rebound performance against Robert Morris, and nine games with two or more steals, collecting a season-best four steals at Mercyhurst.

A graduate of White Plains High School, Plate helped lead the Tigers to a 2023 Section Championship title and a New York State final four appearance. She was a three-time All-League and All-Section honoree, as well as a three-time team captain, and scored over 1,000 points throughout her prep career.
