Volleyball – Sharks Defeat Lee, Extend Winning Streak to Seven

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team extended their winning streak to seven consecutive matches, defeating Lee (TN.) in four-sets in NSU’s third and final match at the South Region Crossover. Nova Southeastern achieved a perfect performance at the South Region Crossover, winning each of the three matches for the first-time in program history.

How it Happened
  • Taylor Stockman and Kate Mihacevich each recorded a kill, sparking a 4-0 rally by NSU, and put the Sharks ahead 5-2 in the opening set.
  • Later in the set, Stockman led a 6-0 run for the NSU, while Gabrielle Spankus added back-to-back service aces, putting NSU in front 15-6.
  • Nova Southeastern closed the set on a 6-1 run, winning 25-13. Brittany Landrum provided points on the offensive end with a kill and on the defensive side with a block.
  • In the early moments of the second set, both teams traded three-point swings, as the set was tied at 4-4.
  • Nadia Lindner added a pair of consecutive service aces, putting NSU in the lead at 14-13.
  • NSU led 24-21, but four unanswered points allowed the Flames to battle back, putting the score at 25-24.
  • The Flames took the second set 29-27, tying the match at 1-1.
  • With the third set tied at 6-6, Madison Cook recorded a pair of kills to lead a 4-0 run, giving the Sharks a 10-6 lead.
  • Lee reclaimed the lead with a 5-0 rally, putting the score at 11-10.
  • The Sharks continued to respond, rallying to take a 17-16 lead following kills from Mihacevich and Stockman.
  • Stockman recorded another kill, and sealed the 25-23 third set win for the Sharks.
  • With the fourth set tied at 4-4, Nova Southeastern was able to capitalize on three errors by the Flames and took an 8-4 advantage.
  • Lindner capped off a 5-1 rally by NSU with a service ace, putting Nova Southeastern ahead 14-8.
  • Stockman recorded a pair of points, adding a kill and a service ace to her totals, as the Sharks took a 19-10 lead.
  • Lindner completed the four-set win for the Sharks, closing out the 25-16 victory with a service ace.
