JACKSONVILLE, September 15, 2023 – Buse Hazan (Istanbul, Turkey) led the University of South Florida volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-19, 25-19) win over the UNF Osprey on Friday night in UNF Arena.
Hazan finished with 17 kills and 15 digs for her second career double-double. Amanda DeWitt (Jupiter) and Marta Cvitkovic (Rijeka, Croatia) also had double-digit kills with 15 and 10, respectively.
North Florida jumped out taking a 18-13 lead. South Florida battled back and closed out the first set on a 7-0 run.
The Ospreys cruised through set two. The Bulls battled back, but North Florida took the set, 25-19.
South Florida found their momentum again in the third set. They hit for a combined .357 hitting percentage, while North Florida finished with a .237.
With the end in sight, the Bulls cruised through the fourth set, taking a 19-14 lead. North Florida brought the match within one, but the Green and Gold closed out the set with a 6-1 run.
NOTABLES
- Niki Khoshatefeh (Temecula, Calif.) finished with two of the three solo blocks for the Bulls.
- Caroline Dykes (Flower Mound, Texas) had 40 assists.
- South Florida had eight service aces.
UP NEXT
South Florida will close out the UNF Sunshine Invitational tomorrow when they take on Alabama A&M at 10 a.m.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her fourth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2023. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls’ program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002.
