UTSA Bound for WBIT

IRVING, Texas –American Athletic Conference regular season champion UTSA has been selected to the Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT). The Roadrunners earned the automatic bid from The American.

The WBIT, a 32-team postseason event, will be played March 20 (first-round), March 23 (second-round) and March 27(quarterfinals), with the highest-seeded teams hosting games at campus sites. WBIT semifinal and final games will be conducted at Butler University’s historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on March 31 and April 2. All games of the WBIT will be broadcast on the ESPN platforms.

UTSA (26-4) will open the WBIT against No. 4 seed Gonzaga (22-10) on March 20 in Spokane, Washington The Roadrunners had an historic season, breaking the single season wins record and winning their first American Athletic Conference regular season championship, and first conference title since 2008-09. The Roadrunners are led by redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins and graduate guard Nina De Leon Negron. Jenkins was voted The American’s Player of the Year, while De Leon Negron was selected as The American’s Newcomer of the Year.
