Melanie Green’s season could continue into the NCAA Regionals with the field set to be announced on Wednesday.
IRVING, Texas (April 26, 2022) – For the second straight season, the University of South Florida’s Melanie Green (Medina, N.Y.) has been named to The American All-Conference Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
Green becomes the first Bull to be named to the All-AAC Team twice since Ashley Burke (2014-15).
“Melanie is deserving of this honor because she has worked on improving every aspect of her game,” said head coach Erika Brennan. “Mentally, she is just so tough between the ropes. She continues to elevate and is always looking for new things to study and new ways to get better. That tenacity is rare and she is a remarkable student-athlete.”
During her sophomore campaign, Green earned a top-10 finish in seven of her 10 outings, including her first collegiate win at the Trinity Forest Invitational in March where she was just one of two players to shoot even par at the event.
Green’s 19 rounds of par or better and 102 birdies in 2021-22 are both new single-season records. She is also on pace to set a new single-season scoring average record (71.64) when her season comes to a close.
Green opened the 2021-22 season by carding a program record score of 205 at the USA Intercollegiate which including an opening-round score of 65 (-7) to also set a new program record for round vs. par. She helped lead South Florida to a fifth-place team finish at the AAC Championship last week by finishing sixth individually for her second straight top 10 finish at the conference championship tournament.
Green will find out on Wednesday if her season will continue into the NCAA Regionals when the participating field is announced on Golf Channel at 4 p.m.
