USF WBB: South Florida’s Mama Dembele Signs Pro Contract With Valencia Basket Club

TAMPA, Fla. – April 16, 2025 – South Florida women’s basketball graduate guard Mama Dembele has signed a professional contract with Valencia Basket Club, announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.

Dembele is the 24th USF player under Head Coach Jose Fernandez’s leadership to go on to a professional basketball career.

GRADUATE GUARD MAMA DEMBELE SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • 2024-25 AAC Defensive Player of the Year (The first player in USF program history (men’s or women’s) to earn the honor).
  • Named to the 2024-25 AAC All-Defensive Team and AAC All-Tournament Team.
  • Finished the season ranked 21st nationally in assists per game (5.5 apg) and 16th in total assists (186).
  • Became the first DI player (men’s or women’s), NBA, or WNBA player this century to record 50+ minutes played, 10+ assists, 3+ steals, and zero turnovers in a single game (vs. Rice, Feb. 12).
  • Logged 23 games with five or more assists.
  • Matched season-high 11 assists in wins over Rice (Feb. 12) and UTSA (Jan. 29).
  • Recorded 12 points and 9 assists in win over Charlotte (Jan. 1).
  • Posted season-high 9 steals, along with 8 points and 6 assists, against Northwestern State (Dec. 17).
  • Collected 5 steals and 7 assists, joining the 500 career assists club, against No. 3/3 South Carolina (Dec. 15).
