USF WBB: South Florida Looks To Sweep Its Fourth-Straight Opponent At Charlotte On Tuesday

Charlotte, N.C. – Feb. 17, 2025 – South Florida women’s basketball (18-8, 11-2 AAC) heads to the Queen City for its second meeting of the year with Charlotte  (8-16, 3-10 AAC) on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. and the action will stream on ESPN+ and Bulls Unlimited.

SETTING THE STAGE

The Bulls are winners of 13 of their last 15 games and are looking to extend their current win streak to a season-high eight games. The 49ers enter Tuesday as winners of two of their last five games.

THE SOUTH FLORIDA-CHARLOTTE SERIES

Tuesday is the 22nd meeting between the two squads. Charlotte leads in the all-time series 21-10. The last clash was a 69-68 overtime Bulls win in Tampa, Fla. (Jan. 1, 2025) on New Year’s Day.

BEST OF THE BULLS

The Bulls are led by graduate guard Sammie Puisis (14.9 ppg.) and senior forward L’or Mputu (10.0 ppg.) Puisis is ranked 4th in the nation with 82 total 3-pointers made and 5th nationally in 3FG Made Per Game (3.2 3FGM). Junior forward Carla Brito holds a team best 7.7 rebound average. (6th in the American). Senior forward L’or Mputu has a 7.3 rebound average (7th in the American). The Duo is 2nd the AAC with a combined 15.0 Rebound Average. Graduate guard Mama Dembele is USF’s top assister with 5.5 apg. (19th nationally in APG) (143 total assists ranked 15th nationally). In the latest NCAA Nitty Gritties Report, South Florida is ranked 75 NET SOS, 67 in the NET, and 7 in NET NonCon SOS.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The Bulls are on a seven game winning streak, their longest of the season. USF has won 13 of its last 15 games. Sammie Puisis recorded seven made threes, five rebounds and two steals in her last game against Florida Atlantic. The only other USF players this century to reach those marks in a single game are Kitija Laksa (December 15, 2017) and Jazmine Sepulveda (March 7, 2009). Mama Dembele has combined for 125 minutes played, 26 assists and eight steals over her last three games. She is the only USF player this century and only AAC player all-time to have 120+ minutes, 25+ assists and 8+ steals over a three-game span. USF’s last two games against Charlotte have gone to overtime. In the last 25 seasons, the only other opponent that the Bulls have played back-to-back OT games against was Arkansas (November 12, 2011 and December 21, 2022). Carla Brito has recorded at least 40 minutes played, 10 points and nine rebounds in three straight games. That is the longest streak by any USF player this century and tied for the second longest in AAC history, behind UConn’s Napheesa Collier (four-game run in 2019).
