Tampa, Fla. – Jan. 4, 2025 – Graduate guard Sammie Puisis led all scorers with a season-best 26 points and junior forward Carla Brito’s (14 points, 10 rebounds, career-high six assists, and two steals) balanced double-double led South Florida women’s basketball (10-6, 3-0 AAC) to a, 65-56, win against Temple (8-6, 2-1 AAC) in the Yuengling Center on Saturday Night. South Florida is now the winner of five straight contests and remains undefeated in league play (3-0).
Puisis (season-high 26 points) knocked down six 3-pointers, which noted her 10th game of the season with 3-or more 3-pointers. Brito’s balanced attack of 14 points, 10 rebounds, a career-high six assists, and two steals locked in her second double-double of the campaign. Redshirt senior guard Romi Levy (10 points, season-high four assists) rounded out the Bulls who finished in double-figures. Junior guard Janette Aarino added a career-best seven assists and four rebounds.
The visiting Owl’s were led by Anissa Rivera with 19 points, five rebounds, and a single assist.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Across the first nine minutes of the third frame, USF used a commanding 20-6 scoring stretch to effectively secure the victory. Within the spurt, Puisis led the way with eight points from a pair of 3-pointers and a layup.
