USF Volleyball: South Florida Sweeps Third Straight AAC Opponent

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, October 6, 2023 – The University of South Florida volleyball team (11-6, 5-1 AAC) swept the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners (8-9, 1-5 AAC) on Friday night in the Convocation Center.

The Bulls won with scores of 25-16, 25-23, and 25-16. South Florida has swept their last three opponents for the first time since 2019 when they swept Stetson, Bethune-Cookman, and Temple.

The last time South Florida swept three or more straight conference opponents was back in 2009 when they swept Georgetown, St. John’s, Villanova, and Louisville in the Big East.

Buse Hazan (Istanbul, Turkey) led the Bulls, once again, with 18 kills. Tizi Puljiz (Resistencia, Argentina) finished with a .538 hitting percentage. Caroline Dykes (Flower Mound, Texas) led with two service aces and 36 assists. Freshman Miya Thomas (Gainesville) led the Bulls with 17 digs.

South Florida went on an 8-1 run to take a dominant 16-9 lead. The Bull’s defense only allowed the Roadrunners to score seven more points before taking set one.

South Florida and UTSA battled through the second set. The squads were tied five times on the second set, but the Bulls came out on top.

The Green and Gold cruised through the final set. A late 9-5 run gave South Florida the 20-11 lead. UTSA tried to stay alive, winning four set points, but the Bulls completed the sweep.
