USF SOFTBALL: Corrick Named to Watch List for USA Softball’s Collegiate Player of the Year

Corrick finished the shortened 2020 season with a 12-3 record and a 1.29 ERA


TAMPA, FLA. Jan. 27, 2021 – University of South Florida softball pitcher Georgina Corrick was one of 50 collegiate softball players chosen as part of the Watch List for the 2021 USA Softball Player of the Year, the organization announced on Wednesday. This is her second consecutive selection to the list released every preseason.

Corrick (Sanford, Fla.) was the only member of the list selected from the American Athletic Conference. She was also one of 16 pitchers selected to the list. You can view the full list HERE.

Last season, Corrick continued a successful career in the circle during the shortened season. She finished 12-3 with a 1.29 ERA, including 10 complete games and five shutouts in 18 total appearances. The Great Britain National Team member was named The American’s pitcher of the week three times and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week once during the season. The pitcher was also effective on offense, hitting two home runs and driving home five runs in 13 at bats. 

Corrick also pitched her way to the top of the statistical rankings during the season. Her 12 wins was the best in the conference and fourth among all pitchers, her five shutouts ranked first in the conference and sixth nationally and her 127 strikeouts finished first in the conference and 11th nationally.

Corrick also pitched her way into the record books multiple times in 2020. The Floridian tossed 18 strikeouts against Wisconsin on March 7, tying the USF single-game record. She also combined with Vivian Ponn for USF’s 27th no-hitter, a 7-1 win over FIU on Feb. 21, 2020.

In her career, Corrick has amassed a 52-18 record with a 1.36 ERA in 483 innings pitched. The right-hander has tossed 19 shutouts in 42 complete game efforts. She’s currently sixth on USF’s all-time wins list, fifth on the strikeouts list (551), fifth on the shutouts list and tenth on the innings pitched list.
