USF SOFTBALL: Corrick Named NFCA Third Team All-American

The junior earned her second All-American from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association

TAMPA, FLA. June 2, 2021 – University of South Florida softball pitcher Georgina Corrick was named a third team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the organization announced on Wednesday. This is Corrick’s second All-America honor, joining a second-team selection in 2019.

“What a great recognition for Georgina’s hard work, leadership, and obviously tremendous success in the circle that was displayed by her this past season,” head coach Ken Eriksen said. “Very few get recognized as an All-American not once but twice and combine that with her Academic All-American Award last year, it says something about this elite student-athlete.”

Corrick pitched nearly 70 percent of USF’s total innings in 2021, posting a 24-9 record in the circle with a 0.98 ERA. She helped the Bulls tally a 31-19 record en route to their 16th NCAA tournament. In the process, the junior tossed four no-hitters, including USF’s first back-to-back no-nos against ECU (April 30, May 1) and the program’s first postseason no-hitter against Baylor in the NCAA Tournament (May 22). In total, Corrick has participated in six no-hitters while wearing the green and gold.

The Sanford, Fla. native tied USF’s single-season record and currently leads the nation with 15 shutouts during the season. The mark helped her break the American Athletic Conference’s career shutouts record, which now sits at 34. She also finished second on the program’s single-season strikeouts list with 333 and threw 10-plus strikeouts in 17 of her 39 appearances.

The Great Britain National Team member led the AAC in ERA, hits per seven innings (3.68), shutouts, strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.53), strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings (10.21) and victories (24), while also finishing second in walks allowed per seven innings (1.56).

After being named The American Pitcher of the Week seven times and Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week twice during the season, Corrick earned her third consecutive AAC Pitcher of the Year title and was named an NFCA All-Mideast Region First Team honoree in May.

Corrick in nearing the top of nearly every career pitching record in USF’s book. She ranks second in strikeouts (884), second in strikeouts per seven innings (8.70), second in opposing batting average (.173), third in innings pitched (711.1), fourth in victories (76), fourth in games started (102), fifth in shutouts (19), eighth in ERA (1.24), and eighth in appearances (130).

The honor is USF’s 13th All-America selection between 10 student-athletes, and Corrick is just the third player in USF history to be a two-time All-American, joining USF Athletics Hall of Famers Monica Triner (1998, 1999) and Sara Nevins (2012, 2013, 2014).
