TAMPA, Fla., October 27, 2023 – University of South Florida men’s soccer (5-8-1, 2-4-1) fell 2-1 to Memphis (9-3-2, 4-3-0) on Friday night at Murphy Soccer Stadium in Memphis, Tenn.
Twenty minutes into the match, the Tigers were the first to find the net. Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos scored the first goal of the night for Memphis.
It took the Bulls some time to find the answer, but in the 73’ minute of action, Richard Thompson scored the equalizer for USF, Jalen Anderson had the assist.
For the following eight minutes, the match was tied 1-1 up 81’ , until Santo scored his second goal of the night for the Tigers. South Florida fought hard in the final nine minutes to create chances but were unable to create after Memphis’ second goal of the night.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
· Thompson’s goal was his first of the season (fourth career).
· Anderson’s assist marked his second of the campaign (sixth career).
· USF still holds the lead in the all-time series against Memphis, which adjusted to 18-6-5.

South Florida hosts FAU at Corbett Stadium for its final home game of the regular season on Wednesday (Nov. 1). Kickoff for senior night is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the match can be streamed live on ESPN+.
