Pedro Faife Named AAC Midfielder of the Year; Five Bulls Earn AAC-All Conference Honors

Tampa, Fla., Nov. 7, 2024 – South Florida men’s soccer’s Pedro Faife was named the 2024 American Athletic Conference (AAC) Midfielder of the Year and First-Team All-Conference. The trio of Jalen Anderson, Issah Hamidu and Gunnar Studenhofft earned Second-Team honors, while Marcelo Mondragon earned a spot on the All-Freshman team, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

Faife scored two goals this season, both were game-winners against FIU (Sept. 20) and at UAB (Nov. 1). Anderson scored a trio of goals throughout the regular season, all of which came in wins against Eckerd (Aug. 29), Temple (Oct. 5), and at UAB (Nov. 1). Hamidu scored a single goal this season, his came in the 3-3 tie against FGCU (Sept. 6). Studenhofft led the Bulls with four goals throughout the regular season campaign and had a single game winner against Temple (Oct. 5). Mondragon scored his first collegiate goal and the game-winner against UC Irvine on Sept. 9.

South Florida has earned the No. 2 Seed in the AAC Tournament. Bulls earn the bye to the Semifinals and will play the winner of No. 6 Temple/ No. 3 Charlotte on Wednesday, Nov. 13 in Memphis, Tenn.

USF Men’s Soccer competed in the school’s first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.

Men’s Soccer has two Alumni and a coach in the USF Athletics Hall of Fame: Fergus Hopper and Jeff Attinella, & Dan Holcomb. Cunningham has also been selected to join the USF Athletics Hall of Fame this Fall.


The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
