UF WSWIM & DIVE | Gators Move Up to No. 7 in Newest CSCAA Top 25 Poll

Women’s swimming and diving up three spots in the final poll of 2020.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida women’s swimming and diving moved up three spots to No. 7 in the final College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Poll of 2020, released by the organization on Thursday morning.

The jump comes after three days of competition at the Auburn Invitational last month that saw Florida earn a 508-421 victory after four new top 10 UF swims and 16 event wins to conclude the 2020 portion of their schedule. Additionally, Florida would go on to post seven efforts that currently sit in the top 10 across the nation, including Leah Braswell’s 500 free swim of 4:38.69 (fifth fastest).

Cecilia Porter shattered the 100 breast school record by .33 seconds during the second finals session on Thursday evening, touching in a winning time of 59.22. The previous school record was held for seven years by Hilda Luthersdottir, who posted a swim of 59.55 in 2013. Her B-cut time sits as the seventh-fastest in the nation up to this point of the season.

Talia Bates made her presence felt in her first competition of her sophomore season, winning four individual events in personal best efforts, three of which set new top 10 program swims. She currently owns top 10 NCAA efforts in the 100 free (9th) and 200 free (8th).

The No. 7 ranking is the highest this season for the women’s program after being voted No. 10 in the preseason and November polls. Last season, the team finished No. 7 in the final CSCAA rankings prior to their second-place SEC finish in February.
