UF WGOLF | Gators in Second for Final Round Tomorrow

Florida is 4-under through two rounds and five shots off the lead at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Florida women’s golf team recorded its eighth consecutive round of par or better with a 4-under 280 in round two, moving the Gators into second and five shots back of the lead for the final round tomorrow at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge.

UF owns a two-round score of 4-under 564 and is five shots behind leader No. 4 USC (-9). The two schools are the only pair under-par as No. 5 Texas is in 3rd at 3-over and No. 4 South Carolina 4th at 4-over and No. 6 Oregon in 5th at 8-over. The final round is slated for a 11:15 a.m. shotgun start.

Elaine Widjaja carded the low round for the Gators today with a 3-under 68. The outing marked a 12-shot improvement from her opening round and sixth round under par this season. She climbed 38 spots and is tied for 41st.

Tied for 3rd and sitting three shots back of the individual lead is Siuue Wu at 4-under. The freshman recorded a round two of 1-over 72.

A pair of UF golfers logged rounds of 1-under 70 in Paula Francisco and Addison Klonowski. Francisco is tied for 13th at 1-over through 36-holes and Klonowski, who shot a bogey-free second round, is 2-over in T18. The low round was Klonowski’s team-high eighth in 14 total rounds this season.

Also tied for 13th is Inès Archer. She shot a 1-over 72 in her second set of 18-holes at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

Competing as an individual in the second spring tournament, Sophie Stevens (+13) is tied for 74th.
