UF WGOLF: Florida Concludes Play in Columbia

The Florida women’s golf will set their sights on the Liz Murphey Intercollegiate after a brief hiatus in competition.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of Florida women’s golf team concluded play at the Gamecock Intercollegiate, finishing 17th in the field.

Freshman Maisie Filler led the way for the Gators, posting a flawless scorecard in the final round to finish tied for 20th individually. This marks the third top-20 finish of her career.

Jenny Kim ranked second on the leaderboard for the Gators, finishing the tournament 10-over par overall and in a tie for 56th place.

Marina Escobar, Clara Manzalini and Elin Esborn rounded out the lineup for Florida.

Head Coach Emily Glaser’s Take
On the results…
“Golf is a fickle game so despite this week’s outcome, we are optimistic about the team we know we can be and have proven to be in the past. Our focus needs to be on buckling down at home, increasing our work ethic and discipline and taking a proactive approach to improving every aspect of our game. When we can keep making improvements in those areas, we will have the pieces needed to be successful.”

On injuries changing the lineup…
“We didn’t have our best stuff this week. However, that doesn’t excuse this type of performance. We needed more contribution from our veterans. We need to be able to rely on them in these situations.”

On Maisie Filler…
“I’m really pleased with what I saw from Maisie this week. She is very committed and has been improving each week. Her final round was really, really good – so steady. I’m happy to see her have a nice finish.”
