Deans averaged 19.5 points per game during the wins over Presbyterian and Miami.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida senior KK Deans has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week following impressive outings against Presbyterian and Miami last week, the SEC announced Tuesday afternoon.
Deans averaged 19.5 points, three rebounds and three assists per game in the two victories for the Gators, including a 21-point performance against Miami where she ended 8-of-10 from the free throw line. The senior played a key role in the comeback victory over the Hurricanes, hitting a step-back jumper with 38 seconds left to give UF their first lead since the first quarter. She scored seven points to help force overtime in the final frame.
Deans showed her composure in the overtime period, knocking down a perfect 6-of-6 at the free throw line, to help claim victory over their ACC foe. The team ended 9-of-10 in overtime from the charity stripe. With her 21 points, she continues to inch closer to her 1,000th-career point, currently sitting at 938.
Against Presbyterian on Dec. 6, Deans put together one of her most efficient outings, leading the Gators with 18 points while shooting 7-of-11 from the field, including a 4-of-5 effort from behind the three-point line. She also dished out five assists to pace UF.
The Gators are now off to their best start (10-1) and longest winning-streak (eight games) since the 2015-16 season. Florida is back in action at home on Sunday, Dec. 18, when they welcome UNC Greensboro for a 2 p.m. ET contest.
