Anthaya Charlton earned national and SEC recognition, while Jenoah McKiver finds himself at the top of the conference for a second week.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two Florida Gators Track and Field athletes have been recognized with multiple weekly honors for their outstanding performances during this weekend’s Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Anthaya Charlton’s world lead in the long jump netted her both the SEC women’s Field Athlete of the Week and USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week. Jenoah McKiver, who set the best 400m time in the world for this season, earned SEC Men’s Runner of the Week for the second time in the young 2025 campaign.
Anthaya Charlton – USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week & SEC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Charlton soared 6.98m (22’11”) in the long jump on her first attempt of the competition to move up to No. 2 in collegiate history behind Gator Great and 2023 The Bowerman finalist Jasmine Moore. That jump surpassed the former low-altitude collegiate best of 6.93m (22-9) set by Tara Davis-Woodhall in 2021. Both Moore and Davis-Woodhall registered their marks at the NCAA Championships.
In addition to the No.2 mark in NCAA History, the Nassau native’s leap would also become the Bahamian national record and take the crown as the current world lead.
This is the fourth year in a row that a female athlete from Florida has been named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week. Charlton joins 2024 The Bowerman winner Parker Valby, 2023 honoree Talitha Diggs, and 2022 honorees Moore and Grace Stark in the exclusive club.
This is the second time that she has earned the SEC’s weekly honor for field athletes, the first coming on April 30, 2024 during last outdoor season.
Jenoah McKiver – SEC Men’s Runner of the Week
McKiver was selected for the same honor two weeks ago when he set a world indoor best in the seldom-raced 600-yard event in the Gators season opener. In his encore, he set a new world-leading pace in the more noteworthy 400m. He delivered a blazing fast 45.19 performance, moving into No. 5 in Florida’s program history.
McKiver finished first in a 400m field that featured last season’s NCAA Indoor and Outdoor 400m champion and 2024 The Bowerman finalist, Christopher Morales-Williams.
In the team’s 3:03.78 performance in the 4x400m relay, he delivered a 44.18 anchor leg split. Following his efforts, it was reported that McKiver’s split was the third-fastest Indoor 4x400m split in world history, behind Randolph Ross’ 44.13 in 2022 with North Carolina A&T and Chris Bailey’s 44.15 in 2023 with Arkansas.
