Men secure first win of the season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a matchup between two of the top ranked programs in the country the No. 3/7 ranked Florida men’s and women’s swim and dive split Friday’s dual. The third-ranked Florida men’s team coasted to a, 202-96, win over No. 15 Virginia, while the seventh-ranked Florida women fell short against the three-time defending national champions Virginia women,164-136. The men picked up their first win of the season, and the women fall to 1-1.
The Gators finish with a combined 24 B-cuts on the day and finished in the top-three in every event but one.

Diving
Florida came out on top in all diving events. Freshman Conor Gesing continued his win-streak after sweeping the men’s diving competition. The SEC Co-Diver of the Week on Oct. 3, scored a 364.05 on the 1-meter and a 407.93 on the 3-meter. On the women’s side, Ana Monroy placed first in both the 1-meter and the 3-meter after scoring 318.38 and 407.93, respectfully.
Women 200 Medley Relay
The A relay team of Catie Choate, Molly Mayne, Olivia Peoples, and Isabel Ivey posted a 1:38.67 to finish in second place. Florida’s B team finished in fourth and C team finished in sixth.
Men 200 Medley Relay
The A relay team of Adam Chaney, Aleksas Savickas, Joshua Liendo and Macguire McDuff placed first, finishing in 1:25.82 to secure the men’s first win of the day. The B relay team of Jonny Marshall, Julian Smith, Scotty Buff, and Ed Fullum-Huot finished in second after swimming a 1:27.87. Florida’s C team finished in fifth, and the D team finished in sixth.
Women 1000 Free
Caroline Pennington came in second place after swimming a 9:49.07. Anna Auld finished in fourth place with a time of 9:57.28, while Madison Kolessar finished seconds behind with a 9:57.93 to come in fifth.
Men 1000 Free
The Gators went 1-2-3, led by Eric Brown’s 9:03.88 time to finish in front of freshmen duo Andrew Taylor and Josh Parent. Taylor finished second with a 9:05.88, while Parent swam a 9:14.38 to follow in third.
Women 200 Free
Emma Weyant shaved over two seconds off previous time to touch the wall in 1:45.16. Isabel Ivey was right behind her with a 1:45.18. Both Gators recorded B-cuts, while recording the second and third fastest times in the nation.
Men 200 Free
Florida claimed three of the top-four finishes. Jake Mitchell clocked a B-cut time, 1:35.06. Macguire McDuff finished in second place at 1:38.64 and just ahead of Sean Sullivan, who swam a 1:38.88.
Women 100 Back
Bella Sims posted a B-cut time of 51.79 to finish second, while Catie Choate recorded a third-place finish at 54.12.
Men 100 Back
Gator duo Adam Chaney and Jonny Marshall clocked B-cut times to finish in top-two spots. Chaney, who notched fourth at the 2023 NCAA Championships last season, swam a 46.99 to win the event, while Marshall came in second after swimming a 47.33, in his collegiate debut.
Women 100 Breast
Florida finished under a second from each other. Grace Rainey swam a 1:01.72 and Olivia Peoples followed with a 1:02.29, which was just ahead of Molly Mayne’s 1:02.85 and Anna Moore’s 1:02.90.
Men 100 Breast
Julian Smith claimed the top-spot after posting a 54.18, while Aleksas Savickas came in close second, touching the wall in 54.26.
Women 200 Fly
Lainy Kruger registered a B-cut time of 1:58.29 to record a second-place finish.
Men 200 Fly
The Gators claimed the top-two spots, as Mason Laur finished in first with a 1:44.14 to record the fifth fastest time in the nation. Joaquin Gonzalez Pinero earned second after swimming a 1:45.52.
Women 50 Free
Micayla Cronk touched the wall in 22.79, leading her to a first-place finish.
Men 50 Free
Josh Liendo posted a B-cut time of 19.43 to earn first place. His 19.43 is the third-fastest time in the nation.
Women 100 Free
The Gators had two finishes in the top-three, as Micayla Cronk recorded the fourth-fastest time in the nation after swimming a B-cut time of 48.90 to earn second. Isabel Ivey came in third at 49.53.
Men 100 Free
Macguire McDuff earned his second top-three finish of the day after touching the wall in 43.09 to finish first. Julian Smith earned third place with a 44.69.
Women 200 Back
Bella Sims clocked the fastest time in the nation, after she swam a 1:52.49 to earn the top spot. Sims, SEC Women’s Freshman of the week on Oct. 3, recorded a B-cut time and finished ahead of her teammate, Catie Choate, who came in third with a B-cut time of 1:55.14.

Jonny Marshall posted a time of 1:45.82, leading him to a first-place finish.
Women 200 Breast
Grace Rainey recorded a B-cut time after swimming a 2:12.62 to come in second place. The freshman secured the eight-fastest time in the nation.

Aleksas Savickas finished over two seconds in front of his other competitors, clocking a 1:58.67 to finish first.
Women 500 Free
Emma Weyant came in first place, after swimming her second B-cut time of the day, 4:39.22, which is the fastest time in the nation.

Jake Mitchell recorded his second B-cut time of the day after touching the wall in 4:21.35 and secure the first-place finish.
Women 100 Fly
The Gators recorded two B-cut times, as Bella Sims came in second after posting a 52.09 and ahead of Olivia Peoples, who came in third with a 52.48.
Men 100 Fly
Josh Liendo earned his second B-cut time of the day, after touching the wall in 46.99 to finish first.
Women 400 IM
Emma Weyant led the way, finishing 4:07.51 to secure the fastest time in the nation and record her third B-cut finish of the day, while Julia Podkoscielny came in third with a B-cut time of 4:14.68.
Men 400 IM
Mason Laur secured the top spot after finishing nearly 10 seconds ahead of his competition with a time of 3:49.64.
Women 400 Free Relay
The A-relay team of Isabel Ivey, Ekaterina Nikonova, Micayla Cronk and Bella Sims placed second after posting a B-cut time of 3:15.80.
Men 400 Free Relay
The A relay team and reigning NCAA champions, Josh Liendo, Adam Chaney, Julian Smith and Macguire McDuff, came in first place after swimming a 2:54.61 to close out the meet.
The Gators will be off this week, before returning home on Friday, Oct. 27th to face Georgia in their first conference dual matchup of the season.
