UF S&D: Gators set for Phillips 66 National Championships

2023 U.S. National Championships kick off Tuesday in Indiana

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – 26 current and former Gators are set to compete at the 2023 Phillips 66 National Championships, held at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Competition runs from June 27-July 1.

Florida will send 21 swimmers (11 men, 10 women) who were on the 2022-23 and/or 2023-24 roster to compete among the nation’s finest. On the men’s side, Adam Chaney, Macguire McDuff and Julian Smith, coming off NCAA Relay Records and National Championships, will swim in multiple events over the five-day meet. Brennan Gravley, who was named to the USA Swimming World Open Water Championships last week, will compete in the 400-meter free, 800-meter free and 1500-meter free. 2020 Olympian Jake Mitchell will take on the 200 free and 400 free, seeded in the top-10 of both events.

On the women’s side, Emma Weyant, who won the 400-meter IM silver medal in the 2020 Olympics, as well as 2022-23 SEC Women’s Freshman Swimmer of the Year Zoe Dixon will both compete in the 400-meter IM. 2023 NCAA All-Americans Micayla Cronk, Olivia Peoples and Aris Runnels will also represent the Gators in Indiana.

At the professional ranks, Caeleb Dressel will make his third appearance in 2023, entering as the top seed in the 50-meter free, 100-meter free, 50-meter fly and 100-meter fly. Volunteer Coach Katie Ledecky is entered in four events after securing championships in the 200-meter free, 800-meter free and 400-meter IM last year in California. Both Natalie Hinds (100-meter free) and Bobby Finke (800-meter free) will look to defend their titles as well, while Kieran Smith is scheduled for four events (100-meter free, 200-meter free, 400-meter free, 200-meter IM).

The 2023 Phillips 66 U.S. National Championships serves as a selection meet to decide the U.S. rosters for the 2023 World Championships, World Junior Championships, LEN U-23 European Championships and Pan American Games.

Peacock will feature live coverage of finals everyday beginning at 7 p.m. (ET). The following days will feature a tape delay coverage on NBC and CNBC. USA Swimming will live stream the prelims each day on their YouTube channel, starting at 10 a.m. (ET) every morning.
