UF SB: Wallace, Erickson Compete with USA Softball in Japan All-Star Series

Skylar Wallace and Jocelyn Erickson took part in the Japan All-Star Series with Team USA this past weekend in Japan.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Skylar Wallace and Jocelyn Erickson were invited to compete with USA Softball on the U.S. Women’s Elite in the Japan All-Star Series this past weekend against Team Japan. The duo was a part of a 16-player roster that took on Japan’s best in a three-game series that spanned across three cities over five days.

Team USA’s first competition against Japan took place July 4, at the Vantelin Dome in Nagoya, Japan, white game two was played July 6, at Mt. Fuji Stadium in Fujinomiya and the final game was held at Yokohama Stadium in Yokohama this morning.

USA Softball was swept by Team Japan as they fell 1-0 in game one, 9-5 in game two and 8-1 (6) in game three.

Wallace started all three games at shortstop, while Erickson saw two starts at first base along with a pinch-hit opportunity in game three. Wallace, at the leadoff position, finished the series 6-for-9 with two home runs, a double, three runs scored, two RBI, two hit-by-pitches and two stolen bases. Erickson went 1-for-6 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch.

Next up for USA Softball is the World Baseball/Softball Confederation World Cup Finals that are set to take place July 15-21, in Castions di Strada, Italy at the Campo Comunale da Softball Stadium with former standout Amanda Lorenz and Head Coach Tim Walton, serving as an assistant with Team USA, representing the Gators.
