The NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year Top 3 Finalist will be revealed May 23.
AUBURN, Ala. – Freshman Keagan Rothrock of the Florida softball team was selected as a TUCCI/NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year Top 10 Finalist by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association early Thursday afternoon.
Rothrock (23-6), a two-time Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honoree, was selected as one of top freshmen in the country due to her overall body of work this season for the Gators (43-12). The talented right-handed pitcher is making a mark on the Florida record book as she ranks second all-time in wins (23), starts (31) and complete-games (19) amongst UF freshmen.
The Whiteland, Ind., native has plenty of highlights throughout her inaugural collegiate season as she has posted a 36.0 scoreless inning streak, which was the longest by a UF pitcher since Kelly Barnhill (37.0 innings) in 2018, and has hurled two complete-game no-hitters in addition to three complete-game one hitters.
Rothrock has 10 Southeastern Conference victories in her belt in addition to 10 NFCA Top 25 victories. The talented freshman has also garnered D1Softball.com Freshman of the Week honors twice and was named Softball America’s Freshman Pitcher of the Month in February.
The TUCCI/NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year Top 3 Finalist will be revealed May 23, with the winner being announced May 28.
