The Gators set new single-game program records in runs scored (24), hits (22) and RBI (23).
PHONEIX, Az. – The No. 3 Florida softball team set three new single-game program records in runs scored (24), hits (22) and RBI (23) in its 24-3 five-inning run-rule victory over Iowa State in the final game of the Sun Devil Classic on Sunday morning.
With the win, the Gators improve to 18-1, highlighting a 5-0 weekend in Arizona that included victories over New Mexico State, California Baptist, Arizona State, GCU and the Cyclones.
13 different Gators tallied at least one hit in the win against Iowa State, including four multi-hit performances from seniors Kendra Falby (4-for-4) and juniors Korbe Otis (3-for-3), Kenleigh Cahalan (3-for-4) and Jocelyn Erickson (3-for-4).
Cahalan hit her third home run of the weekend, bringing her five-game RBI total to 13, while Brooke Barnard’s first hit of her senior year was a solo home run and the run that broke the program record.
Sophomore Olivia Miller (2-0) earned her second victory in the circle, tossing four innings, allowing six hits and three runs with four strikeouts.
