Florida and Georgia’s Southeastern Conference Tournament quarterfinal game is being moved to Friday, May 10, at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET due to weather.
AUBURN, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced that the Florida softball team’s quarterfinal game against Georgia is being moved to Friday, May 10, at 9 a.m. CT/10 a.m. ET on SEC Network due to weather impacting the area.
The Gators (43-12) earned the No. 2-seed in the tournament after securing a second-place finish during the regular season with a conference record of 17-7. The Bulldogs (39-15) earned the No. 7-seed in the tournament and advanced to the quarterfinal round after they defeated host No.10-seed Auburn in walk-off fashion 6-5 (14 innings) Wednesday night. The game between the Bulldogs and the Tigers was the longest game in Southeastern Conference Tournament history as it lasted 4 hours and 21 minutes
UF and Georgia met previously this season as the Orange & Blue took the series in Athens, Ga., 2-1 with wins of 9-1 (5 innings) and 10-7, but dropped game two of the series 11-6.
The winner will turn around and play in the semifinals 35 minutes after the conclusion of the first semifinal game on ESPN2.
