UF SB: Five Gators Named To Softball America’s Preseason Top-100 Player List

Jocelyn Erickson, Korbe Otis, Keagan Rothrock, Kendra Falby and Reagan Walsh were each recognized, with Florida tied for the most selections in the SEC.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Five Gators were named to Softball America’s Preseason Top-100 Player list, the organization announced Monday morning. Jocelyn Erickson, Korbe Otis, Keagan Rothrock, Kendra Falby and Reagan Walsh were among the top players in the country recognized.

Erickson led the Gators in the No. 2 spot, followed by Otis at No. 7, Rothrock at No. 14, Falby at No. 20 and Walsh at No. 23. Florida was tied for the most representatives by a Southeastern Conference (SEC) team as Oklahoma also had five players selected.

Erickson, the 2024 NFCA Division I Player of the Year, had one of the best seasons in program history in her first year in Gainesville. As a sophomore, she was a unanimous National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American First Team selection, the SEC Player of the Year and a Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner at catcher. She batted .382 with a single-season program record 86 RBI.

Otis was another impactful transfer for the Gators a season ago. Florida’s starting left fielder was a NFCA All-American First Team and All-SEC First Team selection as a junior. She led the nation in walks (59) and led the SEC in batting average (.434). Otis was the only player in the country with 70-plus hits and runs scored in addition to 50-plus RBI and walks in 2024.

Rothrock, the 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year, led the nation in games started, innings pitched, complete games, appearances and wins in 2024. The right-handed pitcher made 50 appearances in the circle, starting 45 games, 28 complete games, with six shutouts and two saves. Rothrock finished the season with a 33-9 record and 2.59 ERA and earned 2024 NFCA All-American Third Team honors.

Falby, who has led the Gators in hits for three straight seasons, was an All-SEC first team selection and a Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner as a junior. The center fielder ranked first in the SEC in hits (87) and third in the nation. She enters her senior with 247 career hits, ninth-most in program history.

Walsh is coming off a career season as a junior in 2024, earning 2024 NFCA All-American Third Team and All-SEC First Team recognitions. She ranked fifth in the nation in RBI (70) and third in the SEC in home runs (19), slugging .554., the sixth-highest percentage in a single season in program history.

The Gators, who officially started practice today, open the 2025 season at Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium on Feb. 6 vs. North Florida at 6 p.m.
