UF MTN: Florida Shut Out by No.15 Texas A&M in Road Battle

The Gators recorded their third consecutive loss after falling 7-0 to No. 15 Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Tx. – The Florida men’s tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 15 Texas A&M at the Mitchell Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The loss marks the Gators third consecutive loss in conference play. Florida saw struggles early in doubles and could not regroup in singles.

In doubles action, Henry Jefferson<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/henry-jefferson/16661> and Jeremy Jin<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/jeremy-jin/16118> faced Tiago Pires and JC Roddick . The UF pair fell 6-3 giving the Aggies an advantage.

Tiago Pires and JC Roddick claimed the doubles point for TAMU on court three after defeating Kevin Edengren<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/kevin-edengren/16662> and JanMagnus Johnson<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/janmagnus-johnson/17174> 6-2.

No. 68 Tanapatt Nirundorn<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/tanapatt-nirundorn/16114> and Adhithya Ganesan<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/adhithya-ganesan/16660> were leveled at 4-4 with #52 Togan Tokac and Theo Papamalamis before going unfinished.

On the singles side, UF struggled to find their rhythm as the Aggies found success on all six courts.

Texas A&M logged a point in the scoring column after No. 95 Ganesan fell to No. 38 Papamalamis. Ganesan trailed early in the match but started to build momentum going into a tiebreak in the first set. The Gator vet came up short in falling 7-5, and fell 6-3 in the second.

Edengren faced Tokac on court six and also fell in straight sets. Tokac defeated Edengen 6-2, 6-4 extending the Aggies lead to 3-0.

Nirundorn saw a tough opponent in Luke Casper on court five. Nirundorn dropped the first set 6-4. Despite an attempt to force a third set, Nirundorn fell 7-5 in the second sealing the match for Texas A&M. Both teams decided to play out.

No. 62 Jin also fell in his match to No. 45 Roddick. Jin dropped the first set 6-2 and attempted a comeback in the second where he ultimately fell 7-5.

No. 90 Jefferson manned court four as he faced Pires. Jefferson took the first set 6-4 but could not maintain control in the second falling 6-3. Jefferson was bested 6-3 in the extended set pushing the Aggies lead to 6-0.

Johnson was the final Gator to finish as he battled Alan Magadan. Johnson took the first set 6-3, but Magadan responded in the second winning the tiebreaker 7-6. The final set was a super tiebreak with Johnson falling 10-6.
