UF MTN: Florida Blanks Vanderbilt 4-0 in Sunday’s Contest

Gators secure dominant road win behind strong doubles play and clutch singles performances
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Florida men’s tennis team left No. 55 Vanderbilt scoreless at the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Pavilion on Sunday afternoon. The Gators secured the doubles point and used straight set wins in singles to record a 4-0 win.

In doubles action, the Commodores struck first. Kevin Edengren<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/kevin-edengren/16662> and Ben Weintraub<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/ben-weintraub/17051> was defeated 6-3 by Dylan Charlap and Henry Ruger on court three giving Vanderbilt a slight advantage.

It was Jeremy Jin<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/jeremy-jin/16118> and Adhithya Ganesan<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/adhithya-ganesan/16660> on court two that responded for the Gators, posting a 7-5 win against Pablo Martinez Gomez and Danil Panarin.

No. 18 Henry Jefferson<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/henry-jefferson/16661> and Tanapatt Nirundorn<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/tanapatt-nirundorn/16114> clinched the doubles point after winning the tiebreak 7-6 (7-4) over No. 37 Nathan Cox and Michael Ross. The Orange and Blue led 1-0 going into singles.

In singles play, Florida set the tone early with all Gators taking their first set. Edengren manned court five as he recorded the second point for UF. Edengren cruised to a quick 6-1 first set win over Ruger and kept his momentum in the second to claim a 6-3 victory.

JanMagnus Johnson<https://floridagators.com/sports/mens-tennis/roster/janmagnus-johnson/17174> was the next Gator to earn a point in the scoring column. Johnson faced Ross on court three and took the first set 6-3. Johnson mirrored his first set score in the second putting Florida ahead 3-0.

No. 113 Jefferson sealed the match for the Gators on court four as he claimed a straight set victory over Martinez Gomez. Jefferson took the first set 6-4, but Martinez Gomez attempted a comeback in the second. The second set went into a tiebreak with Jefferson maintaining control to secure a 7-5 victory.
