Jake Mitchell comes to the Gators from Michigan
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida men’s swimming & diving team has officially announced the addition of All-American distance swimmer Jake Mitchell to the program as a transfer on Tuesday.
The soon-to-be junior comes to the Gators from Michigan, where he spent his first two collegiate seasons.
A member of the 2020-21 U.S. National Team, Mitchell earned gold at the 2019 FINA World Junior Championships in the 4x200M freestyle relay.
During his time at Michigan, the Carmel, Ind. native earned two CSCAA All-America honors (2022: 800 FR; 2021 – 800 FR Honorable Mention) and was a two-time Big Ten Champion in the 500 free and the 800 free relay.
Mitchell garnered Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors after the 2021 campaign and was named First Team All-Big Ten the same season.
He joins a Florida team that finished third at the NCAA Championships and won its 10th-straight SEC Championship during the 2022 season.
