UF MGOLF | Kress Cards Low Round in Day Two at Southern Highlands Collegiate

Matthew Kress shot a 2-under 70 and sits T16 through 36-holes.

LAS VEGAS – Matthew Kress carded the low round among the No. 11/10 Florida men’s golf team in day two of the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Monday.

UF (+26) shot a round two score of +7, a 12-shot improvement from the opening round yesterday in windy conditions at Southern Highlands Golf Club. Florida is in 10th through 36-holes as Auburn leads the field at 2-under.

Kress, competing as an individual, recorded a 2-under 70 to leap up the leaderboard to T16. He made three birdies and only had one bogey, coming on his 17th hole. Kress’ made an eight-shot improvement from his opening round of 78 (+6). He was one of 15 golfers to finish under par in round two.

Also shooting under par was Jack Turner with a 1-under 71. The sophomore notched his team-best 10th round of par or better and 26th all-time in 44 career rounds. He made four birdies in his round and is tied for 27th.

The next three counting scores came via a shot between each other with Luke Poulter (T31) posting a 74 (+2) after he was +4 with seven holes left. Both Ian Gilligan (T39) and Zack Swanwick (T37) logged rounds of 75 (+3). Swanwick battled back from +6 in the first eight holes.

Rylan Shim rounds out the lineup in T74 as he shot a 76 (+4) in his second set of 18-holes.
