UF MGOLF | Gilligan Selected as Ben Hogan Award Semifinalist

Ian Gilligan is one of 10 semifinalists for the annual award given to the top men’s NCAA college golfer.

FORT WORTH, Texas – Florida men’s golfer Ian Gilligan was selected as a one of ten semifinalists for the 2025 Ben Hogan Award announced Thursday.

The Ben Hogan Award annually awards the top men’s NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA or NJCAA college golfer based on all collegiate, amateur and professional events over the previous 12 months.

This season, Gilligan has played in eight events and appearing No. 1 in the lineup on six occasions. He leads the Gators in multiple categories: stroke average (70.5), low-18 (66), low-36 (133), low-54 (202, low-54 par (-8), average relation to 18 (-0.7) & 54 (-2.1), top-5 (4) and top-25 (6) finishes, rounds counted (21/21), eagles (4), tournaments under par (6) and average difference in strokes off the lead (1.7).

He won his sixth collegiate win at the Gators Invitational via a two-hole playoff. His finishes this season are T8-T17-T2-1-T34-2-T3 and 3-0 record in match play this season.

An esteemed selection committee votes during each stage of the process. The selection committee is comprised of more than 30 leaders in collegiate, amateur and professional golf. The group will be pared down to three finalists on Tuesday, May 6. The finalists will attend a black-tie dinner Monday, May 19, at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, where the winner will be crowned.
