Ian Gilligan was named one of 20 golfers to the prestigious award watch list.
COLUMBUS, Ga. – Florida men’s golfer Ian Gilligan was named to the Haskins Award First Spring Watch List, Golfweek and Golf Channel announced Monday.
The honor marked the third straight season Gilligan is one of the 20 final golfers named to the watch list. Next month on April 14, the list will be reduced to 15 players and then on May 16, the final 10 players will be announced.
Celebrating its 55th year, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel is considered the most prestigious award in collegiate golf, and is presented annually to the most outstanding male golfer. The winner of the oldest individual college golf award is voted on by players, coaches, golf SIDS, and select golf media members and will be announced in early June.
Gilligan is currently ranked No. 3 in PGA Tour U and No. 5 in WAGR. The senior has played in six tournaments this season, highlighted by his sixth collegiate win at the Gators Invitational where he finished 8-under 202 and won in two-hole playoff. A week prior, teed off the spring season with a T2 outing at the Southwestern Invitational.
He leads the Gators in stroke average (70.7), low scores in 18 (66), 36 (133), 54 (202), 54 par (-8), top-5 (2) finishes, rounds counted (15, 100%) and tournaments par or better (4).
