UF MGOLF: Deacon Announces Finalized Spring 2021 Schedule

Head men’s golf coach J.C. Deacon released a finalized version of the Spring 2021 schedule Friday.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – J.C. Deacon, the head men’s golf coach at the University of Florida, released a finalized version of the Spring 2021 schedule, the program announced Friday.

The Florida men’s golf team will compete in five regular season tournaments taking place from January to April, including the annual Gators Invitational presented by VyStar, with postseason play beginning in April and continuing through May.

“We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to play an elite schedule this coming Spring. We will be visiting some of the best golf courses in the southeast and playing against the top teams in college golf,” said Deacon. “A big part of our program at the University of Florida is playing a high-level schedule. We certainly have that in front of us. Our guys have been working really hard to be ready for the challenge.”

Florida will open the 2021 Spring season right down the road from UF in Jacksonville, Fla. at the Timuquana Collegiate. Held at the Timuquana Country Club, this marks the first time the Gators will participate.

The Gators will then return home to defend their title at the Gators Invitational presented by VyStar. Taking place from Feb. 14-16, Florida will welcome teams from various conferences to Mark Bostick Golf Course. Last season, the Gators won their first Gators Invitational under head coach J.C. Deacon and boasted the individual champion in Ricky Castillo. Castillo finished with a 13-under par total of 197, tying for the second lowest individual score at the Gators Invitational and the third-lowest score in program history. Fan information and safety policies will be released at a later date.

UF then heads to Baton Rouge, La. at the end of February to compete in the LSU Invitational from Feb. 26-28.

Following the LSU Invitational, the Gators will take a brief reprise before heading back on the road towards Auburn, Ala. for another SEC matchup at the Tiger Invitational. Hosted by Auburn University, this three-day tournament will begin on March 15.

Florida will conclude regular season competition back in the Sunshine State at the Calusa Cup, hosted by the University of Iowa from April 4-6.

Postseason play will begin with the SEC Championship, held from April 21-25 in St. Simons Island, Ga. This is followed by NCAA Regionals, scheduled for May 16-19 in four different possible locations, and culminates in the NCAA National Championship, held in Scottsdale, Ariz. from May 28 – June 2.
