Ricky Castillo posted back-to-back 68s (-2) at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invite to sit T4.
CHICAGO – Senior Ricky Castillo led the Florida men’s golf team on day two of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invite at Olympia Fields on Saturday.
The Gators finished the day in fourth as Stanford continues to lead the field at 9-under with Arizona State (-2) in third and host Illinois (-1) in second.
Castillo posted his second round on the weekend under-par with a 68 (-2) to sit T4. His birdie on one along with Fred Bondi’s to start the round cut the Cardinal lead to four strokes as that was the closest the Gators got. He shot a 68 yesterday to mark his fourth in six total rounds this year.
After going +5 in his first nine holes, John DuBois bounced back at the turn and went 2-under with only one bogey on 18 to card a 73 (+3). Behind the senior was Yuxin Lin with a 74 (+4) who is tied for 15th and Biondi with a 75 (+5) tied for 37th.
Quentin Debove is the third Gator to place in the top-25 at T19 as he recorded a 72 (+2) today.
Florida tees off round three tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. E.T.
