Florida scored 16 consecutive goals throughout the first, second and third quarters to win 20-4.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida lacrosse team (13-3, 3-0 Big 12) used a 16-0 run in a span of 34:02 of game clock from the first quarter through the third quarter, to defeat Stetson (5-9, 0-5 ASUN) 20-4 on Tuesday evening.
A season high 13 different Gators scored, led by three goals apiece from freshmen Clark Hamilton and Gabby Greene, as it was Greene’s first career hat-trick. Jordan Basso, Frannie Hahn and Ava Tighe each scored two goals, along with one each from Kaitlyn Davies, Ryann Frechette, Sydney Wilson, Macy Zaban, Riley Zusi, Gianna Monaco and Alyssa Deacy. They were Zusi and Wilson’s first career goals.
The Gators recorded 10 assists, their third double-digit assist game of the season. Frechette dished out a career high three assists, followed by two from Hamilton and one from Frannie Hahn, Tighe, Davies, Wilson and Jenny Markey.
Elyse Finnelle moved to 8-0 this season, recording four saves in the cage. Georgia Hoey tallied three saves and Susan Radebaugh recorded one.
How It Happened
First Quarter
* Stetson got on the board first with 6:53 to play in the first quarter, before the Gators answered 43 seconds later with a goal from Basso off the feed from Davies to even it at 1-1 with 6:10 to play.
* Greene scored with 2:00 left in the frame to give Florida a 2-1 advantage after one.
Second Quarter
* After an 8-6 shot advantage in the first, UF outshot the Hatters 15-2 in the second quarter, in route to outscoring Stetson 10-0.
* Seven different players scored in the frame, started by Davies and Frannie Hahn off assists from Tighe and Markey to make it 4-1 with 10:48 to play.
* Greene, Zusi, Hamilton (unassisted) and Basso scored the next four, with feeds from Frannie Hahn and two from Hamilton. Zusi scored her first career goal, as Florida led 8-1 with 5:29 remaining.
* The next four were unassisted goals from Hamilton, Greene, Deacy and Frannie Hahn to push the Gators to a 12-1 lead at half.
Third Quarter
* The Gators scored four goals in the quarter to conclude a 16-0 run overall. Tighe scored 40 seconds into the quarter, followed by unassisted goals from Hamilton and Monaco, concluded by Zaban scoring off a pass from Frechette to give Florida a 16-1 lead with 2:08 left.
* Stetson got on the board late in the frame, as Florida has a 16-2 lead after three.
Fourth Quarter
* Luciano started off the fourth with some fireworks, connecting on a behind-the-back goal off the feed from Frechette to give the Gators a 17-2 lead 32 second into the quarter.
* Frechette, Tighe and Wilson concluded the scoring for the Gators on the night, as their three consecutive goals gave Florida its largest lead of the game at 20-2 with 6:18 remaining.
* Stetson scored two straight goals late, as the Gators earned the 20-4 victory.
