Luke Heyman (First Team), Jake Clemente (Second Team), Aidan King (Freshman Team), Brendan Lawson (Freshman Team) and Bobby Boser (Defensive Team) were named All-SEC.
HOOVER, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference unveiled the 2025 All-SEC Baseball Team on Monday afternoon, with five Florida Gators earning recognition headlined by First Team catcher Luke Heyman<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/luke-heyman/17327>.
While Heyman was the lone member of the Orange & Blue to make All-SEC First Team, right-hander Jake Clemente<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/jake-clemente/17322> was honored as a Second Team relief pitcher. Rookie phenoms Aidan King<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/aidan-king/17366> and Brendan Lawson<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/brendan-lawson/17350> each earned spots on the 12-man Freshman All-SEC Team. Rounding out the group, senior infielder Bobby Boser<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/bobby-boser/17349> represented the Gators on the All-SEC Defensive Team at third base.
The All-SEC Baseball Team is voted on by the league’s 16 head coaches.
As arguably the nation’s top catcher prior to going down with an injury against Alabama on May 15, Heyman collects his first-career All-SEC honor (outside of 2023 Freshman Team) with the First Team nod behind the plate. Playing in 49 games, the Longwood, Fla. native batted .301/.397/.578 backed by 13 homers, one triple, seven doubles, 44 RBI and 37 runs scored. Even more impressively, Heyman slashed an even better .317/.403/.673 in 28 SEC contests, ranking fifth in the league in slugging, sixth in home runs (10), 10th in RBI (28) and 12th in total bases (70). The UF backstop did all of this while providing near-perfect defense, finishing with a .998 fielding percentage on top of leading the SEC in chances and putouts. Heyman’s 11 runners caught stealing was good for third in the conference.
Taking over the closer role mid-season with Florida at 1-11 in league play, Clemente brings home his first-career All-SEC accolade. In the 22 games in the Gators’ 17-5 (14-4 SEC) turnaround, the righty from Coral Springs, Fla. has logged a 0.86 ERA, seven saves, .160 batting average against and 35-to-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 21 innings across nine appearances. That stretch of dominance has improved Clemente’s season numbers significantly, as he carries a 3.51 ERA, .176 BAA and 73-to-25 K-to-BB ratio into the SEC Tournament.
Although snubbed for regular All-SEC honors as well as Freshman of the Year, King secures a Freshman All-SEC award after pitching in 16 games (11 starts) with a 6-2 record, 2.76 ERA, .220 BAA and 72-to-21 K-to-BB ratio over 65 1/3 frames. The Jacksonville, Fla. product was nearly untouchable in his final four regular-season starts, allowing just two earned runs in 20 2/3 innings for a 0.87 ERA while fanning 22 batters. King racked up a program-record four weekly SEC honors in his first collegiate campaign, thrice being named SEC Freshman of the Week in addition to taking home sole SEC Pitcher of the Week status once.
As the other Gator included on the Freshman All-SEC Team, Lawson started 55 of 56 regular-season contests and produced a strong .305/.415/.510 batting line. The Canadian rookie has totaled nine homers, one triple, 12 doubles, 55 RBI, 41 runs and eight steals, sitting second on the team in runs driven in. Lawson has popped three grand slams in his first year in Orange & Blue while providing versatility across the UF infield with multiple starts at first, second and third base.
Rounding out the contingent, Boser’s All-SEC Defensive Team nod at third base comes in his first and only year in the conference. Starting 44 of his team-high 56 games played at the hot corner, Boser made just two errors across 86 chances at third base for a .977 fielding percentage. Not only has he provided elite defensive production, but the Wesley Chapel, Fla. native has also slashed .327/.429/.590 with a team-high 71 hits, 65 runs, 58 RBI and 18 steals on top of 15 home runs.
The Gators return to action on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET against South Carolina in the first round of the 2025 SEC Tournament.
