BIRMINGHAM –The UAB women’s soccer team will resume Conference USA play on Sunday when it travels to El Paso, Texas to take on UTEP. Kickoff is scheduled for noon (CT).
UAB LATELY
The Blazers (6-2-1, 1-0-0 C-USA) have been off since March 7 when they defeated Columbus State 6-0 at BBVA Field. Prior to that, the Blazers opened league play with a 2-1 victory over Southern Miss on Feb. 26.
UAB is ninth in the NCAA and first in Conference USA with 26 goals scored. They are 16th in the nation and first in Conference USA in goals per game with 2.89. The Blazers’ 20 assists is 14th in the NCAA and second in the league.
ABOUT UTEP
The Miners (2-3-1, 1-1-0 C-USA) are coming off a 3-1 loss at Southern Miss on March 6. UTEP opened C-USA play with a 2-1 overtime victory against Louisiana Tech.
THE SERIES VS. UTEP
This will be the 16th matchup between the two squads. The Blazers hold a 6-5-4 advantage in the series that began in 2000. Over the last eight meetings, UAB has won five and the teams have had a pair of draws. The last UTEP victory was in 2012.
LEX IN EFFECT
Lexxe Lipsey leads C-USA with eight goals and 15 points. She ranks eighth and 15th in the NCAA in those categories, respectively.

Laura Zemberyova leads the league and ranks ninth in the NCAA with five assists. Zemberyova and Stella Kiss each have 11 points, which is tied for third in Conference USA.
