BIRMINGHAM – Coming off a signature victory over RV Samford on Sept. 8, the UAB women’s soccer team will open its Conference USA schedule on Sunday against Middle Tennessee.
UAB LATELY
Jessica Wheeler’s goal in the 17th minute was all the scoring UAB (3-2-2) needed in its 1-0 victory over crosstown rival Samford on Sept. 8. The Blazers are 3-1-0 at home this season.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE LATELY
Middle Tennessee is coming off back-to-back losses at home against Tennessee Tech and Vanderbilt.
THE SERIES VS. MIDDLE TENNESSEE
The Blazers and Blue Raiders have met nine times with MT winning seven of the matches since the series began in 2010.

In UAB’s win over Middle Tennessee on Oct. 17, 2021, Laura Zemberyova found the back of the net in the 65th minute on an assist from Jessica Wheeler to give the Blazers a 1-0 victory. Eve Beyer picked up the clean sheet in the win.

UAB TO THE AAC STARTING IN 2022-23
On Thurs., Oct. 21, American Athletic Conference officials announced that Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice and Texas San Antonio will join UAB as new members in the AAC. They will compete against current AAC members East Carolina, Memphis, Navy, USF, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa and Wichita State. The UAB women’s soccer team will begin AAC play in the 2023 season.
