UAB Women’s Basketball Falls to UTEP 81-66

BIRMINGHAM – In a rescheduled game from last night, the UAB women’s basketball team fell to UTEP 81-66 on Friday afternoon at Bartow Arena. 

The Blazers (11-14, 3-13 C-USA) were led by Destinee McGhee and Emily Klaczek with 13 points apiece. McGhee added a game-high seven rebounds. Margaret Whitley and Lyndsey Robson each had double-figures, scoring 11 and 10 respectively.  

The Miners (17-7, 10-5 C-USA) had six players in double-figures, led by N’Yah Boy with a game-high 16 points. 

With the game tied at 17-17 with a minute left in the 1st quarter, the Miners scored the last seven points to go ahead 24-17 after the first 10 minutes. UTEP used a 15-0 run to take a commanding 43-20 lead with 3:48 remaining in the 2nd quarter.  

The Miners’ lead would get as many as 38 points at the beginning of the 4th quarter.  

The Blazers host UTSA Saturday afternoon with a 1 PM tipoff. This will be the 2023 Senior Day for Whitley, Lyndsey Robson, Maria Roters, Audrey Jordan and Jasmine Gracie. Additionally, this is UAB’s Pink Game.

Women’s Basketball season tickets are available for $65 by purchasing the 2022-23 Gold Card. The Gold Card will allow you to gain access to all home events for Women’s Basketball, as well as Women’s Soccer, Men’s Soccer, Volleyball, Baseball and Softball.

GROUP TICKETS AND FAN EXPERIENCE PACKAGES
Individual and corporate groups can plan a memorable experience at Bartow Arena by filling out the UAB Basketball Group Ticket Request Form. Discounted group tickets and fan experiences are available for a minimum purchase of 15 tickets, and fan experiences are available on a first come, first served basis to any home basketball game during the 2022-23 season.
