RUSTON, La. – The UAB women’s basketball team will play its final regular season contest on Saturday afternoon when they visit LA Tech on Mar. 5. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
UAB LATELY
UAB (15-13, 8-9 C-USA) is coming off a 67-57 setback against Southern Miss on Mar. 3. The Blazers are currently in fourth place in the West Division.
LA TECH LATELY
Louisiana Tech (18-10, 10-7 C-USA) has won three straight contests, defeating Rice, North Texas and Old Dominion. The Lady Techsters are atop the West Division.
UAB AND LA TECH HISTORY
The teams have played each other 14 times, with Tech holding an 8-6 advantage. Oddly enough, each team has a winning record on the other’s home floor with the neutral contest coming at The Star in the 2020 C-USA Championship.
LAST TIME AGAINST LA TECH
Zakyia Weathersby recorded her 12th double-double of the season and two other Blazers had double-figure scoring, but UAB suffered its first home loss of the season 58-52 against Louisiana Tech on Jan. 22, 2022.
COMMON OPPONENTS
UAB and LA Tech have 11 common opponents this season. Mississippi Valley State was the only nonconference opponent the two teams shared.

Weathersby is fifth in the NCAA with 20 double-doubles, 19th in FG percentage (56.0%), 11th with 4.1 offensive rebounds per game, 15th with 11.3 rebounds per game and 11th with 317 total rebounds. She’s second in the league in blocks per game and total blocks (1.96/55) and is third in field goals made (164).

Both Weathersby (Chicago State/Chattanooga) and Caitlynn Daniels (Mississippi Valley State) each have a 28-point game under their belts this year.
WORLD CLASS KLACZEK
Emily Klaczek set a career-high with 26 points in UAB’s 86-70 win over WKU on Jan. 27. She scored 16 points in the 2nd quarter, going 5-for-5 from the field, 4-of-4 from 3-point range and a pair of foul shots.
EIGHT IS ENOUGH
In Daniels career day against MVSU, she drained eight 3-pointers. This is the most in C-USA this season and tied for the 11th most in the NCAA this season.
