BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women’s basketball team begins a three-game, 2,700-mile roadtrip that will take them through four states and two countries over the next week. First up is Valparaiso on Monday evening.
UAB LATELY
UAB (2-0) is coming off a 69-40 victory over Nicholls on Nov. 15. The 40 points was the Blazers’ best defensive effort since giving up 39 against South Alabama on Dec. 13, 2015. Monday is the Blazers’ first road game of the season.
VALPO LATELY
Valparaiso is coming if its first loss of the season, a 73-67 setback against Eastern Illinois on Nov. 16. The Beacons are 1-1 at the Athletics-Recreation Center this season.
UAB AND VALPO HISTORY
Monday night marks the first meeting between UAB and Valpo since Nov. 25, 1989 when they met in the Full-O-Pep Holiday Inn Classic in Bloomington, Ind. Jacque Nero recorded a double-double of 25 points and 15 rebounds in UAB’s 84-53 victory.
COMMON OPPONENTS
UAB and Valpo do not have any common opponents this season.

UAB is 11-5 all-time against teams that are currently in the Missouri Valley Conference.
