BIRMINGHAM – UAB returns to Bartow Arena on Saturday when it hosts LA Tech. This is the first of a three-game homestand.
UAB LATELY
UAB (10-5, 3-1 C-USA) is coming off a Florida sweep – 65-56 victory over FIU on Jan. 13. and an 82-65 win at Florida Atlantic.
LA TECH LATELY
LA Tech (9-7, 1-4 C-USA) recorded its first league win of the season on Jan. 17, a 79-64 victory over UTSA.
UAB AND LA TECH HISTORY
The teams have played each other 13 times, with Tech holding a 7-6 advantage. Oddly enough, each team is 5-1 on the other’s home floor with the neutral contest coming at The Star in the 2020 C-USA Championship.
LAST TIME AGAINST LA TECH
Margaret Whitley led UAB with 23 points, hitting seven 3-pointers, but LA Tech completed the series sweep with an 83-61 victory at Bartow Arena on Feb. 13, 2021.
COMMON OPPONENTS
UAB and Tech have 11 common opponents this season with Mississippi Valley State being the lone nonconference foe.

Weathersby is seventh in the NCAA 11 double-doubles, ninth with 4.3 offensive rebounds per game. She ranks first in Conference USA in blocks (30), blocks per game (2.0), shooting percentage (58.1%), rebounds (172) and rebounds per game (11.5). She’s second in the league in field goals made (100).

Both Weathersby (Chicago State/Chattanooga) and Caitlynn Daniels (Mississippi Valley State) each have a 28-point game under their belts this year.
EIGHT IS ENOUGH
In Daniels career day against MVSU, she drained eight 3-pointers. This is the most in C-USA this season and tied for the ninth most in the NCAA this season.
