BIRMINGHAM – UAB softball (11-10) will host its final tournament of the season this weekend as Colgate (10-5), Furman (5-14) and Jacksonville (13-7) come to town.
After a tough stretch of games against some ranked competition the Blazers have won two straight and look to build some momentum with one last home tournament before conference play begins.
UAB rallied in the sixth inning to defeat North Alabama 4-2 in Florence, Ala. on Wednesday night. The Blazers used a four run sixth inning to overcome the Lions with a two-RBI double from Jenna Olszewski, the game winning RBI from Ashton Clem and an insurance RBI single from Faith Hegh.
The Blazers have already faced the Paladins this season, defeating Furman 3-2 on opening weekend at the Buzz Classic in Atlanta. UAB has not lost to Furman, Colgate or Jacksonville before but have only met a combined five times.
The tournament begins at 10 a.m. Friday when Jacksonville faces Colgate followed by Jacksonville and Furman at 12:30 p.m. The Blazers will be in action at 3 p.m. against Colgate and again at 5:30 p.m. against Furman. Saturday, Jacksonville will face Furman at 10 a.m. before the Blazers play Colgate at 12:30 p.m. and Jacksonville at 3 p.m. Saturday will conclude with Furman and Colgate at 5:30 p.m. Sunday the tournament wraps up with Jacksonville and Colgate at 9 a.m. and UAB and Furman at 11:30 a.m.
The UAB Tournament, which features UAB, Colgate, Furman and Jacksonville, will have all day tickets available at $5 for adults and $3 for youth tickets. Premium seats can be purchased at $10 for adults, $6 for youth and $5 for existing Gold Card members.
