BOCA RATON, Fla. – Abbey Burns found the back of the net in the 55th minute, giving UAB the equalizer in its 1-1 draw with Florida Atlantic (5-4-3, 1-1-1 AAC) on Thursday night at FAU Soccer Field.
The Blazers (4-3-4, 0-0-3 AAC) fell behind on Sophia Voldby’s goal just 16 seconds into regulation.
UAB set up its goal when Jessica Wheeler found Stella Lawson who tapped the ball to Burns just outside the box. Burns took two dribbles and blasted the ball past FAU keeper Lexi Gonzalez on the left side.
Anika Toth faced 10 shots along with six corners and made five saves on the evening.
The Blazers return home to PNC Field Oct. 5 against USF.

Blazer Buddies is the new official kids club of UAB Athletics and is open to all kids ages 12 and under.
